Custom Middleware Development
Bespoke Node.js middleware layers that translate data between Shopify Plus and third-party systems - handling format conversion, event triggers, and error management properly.
Custom middleware, backend API connections, and data pipelines that link your Plus store to ERP, CRM, 3PL, and enterprise systems - built to be stable in production, not just in demos.
Bespoke Node.js middleware layers that translate data between Shopify Plus and third-party systems - handling format conversion, event triggers, and error management properly.
Real-time inventory, order, and fulfillment data sync between Shopify Plus and enterprise ERP systems - NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and custom builds.
Bidirectional customer data sync between Shopify Plus and Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot, or custom CRM platforms - orders, segments, and lifecycle events.
Warehouse and fulfillment center connections - order routing, tracking updates, inventory sync, and return processing automated between Plus and your 3PL.
Connecting Plus B2B API data - price lists, company accounts, order approvals - to external procurement systems, buyer portals, or wholesale management platforms.
Bespoke API endpoint development and webhook event pipelines for systems that don't have standard connectors - built and documented for long-term maintainability.
You're on Shopify Plus with enterprise systems - ERP, CRM, 3PL - that need to stay in sync with your store, and manual processes are no longer a viable way to manage it.
You've tried app-based integrations that can't handle your data volume, break when APIs change, or don't support the business logic your operation requires.
You're scaling into new markets or channels and need integrations that can handle increased order volume and more complex data flows without rearchitecting everything.
You need a custom integration built once, documented properly, and handed over in a way that your team or a future developer can maintain without calling us back.
HOW WE WORK
Systems Mapped Before Code Written.
Tested Against Real Data, Not Assumptions.
We document every system in scope - APIs, data formats, event triggers, volume expectations, and failure scenarios. The data flow is mapped in full before architecture is decided.
Middleware design or direct API approach chosen based on the actual requirement - not the simplest option. Architecture documented and reviewed with your technical team before build starts.
Built against live API endpoints. Tested with production-representative data volumes and edge cases - not toy datasets in a sandbox.
Production deployment with logging and alerting configured. Full technical documentation handed over so the integration can be maintained and extended.
B2B Manufacturing
6,000 SKU catalog. Orders from both B2B wholesale portal and D2C store flowing into NetSuite. Inventory sync was a manual daily export. Fulfillment updates were not reaching customers. Custom Node.js middleware built for real-time bidirectional sync.
5min
inventory sync latency - down from 24 hours
fulfillment notifications automated

Tools
A direct API connection works when the integration is straightforward - one system calling another with a clean data format and low event volume. Custom middleware is needed when data formats need translation, multiple systems need to stay in sync, event volume is high, or the integration needs to handle failures gracefully without data loss. We recommend the right approach after reviewing the actual systems involved.
We use Shopify's Bulk Operations API for large data transfers, implement queue-based request management for webhook-driven syncs, and design retry logic for failed API calls. Rate limit management is part of the architecture decision - it's not something we patch after the integration is built.
Yes. For custom ERP systems without a standard API, we build the integration against whatever interface exists - custom REST endpoints, SOAP, flat file exchange, or database-level connections. We scope based on what the system can actually expose, not what we'd prefer to work with.
Simple direct API integrations take 3 to 5 weeks. Complex integrations with custom middleware, multiple systems in scope, or high-volume data flows run 8 to 14 weeks. ERP integrations specifically tend toward the longer end because the discovery and testing phases are more involved.
We deliver a technical specification document covering the integration architecture, data flow diagrams, API endpoints used, error handling logic, and maintenance instructions. The goal is that your team or a future developer can understand and extend the integration without needing us to explain it.
Integration monitoring - logging, alerting on failures, and periodic health checks - can be included in a monthly retainer. We recommend this for integrations handling order-critical data flows. For ad-hoc support, we're available to diagnose and fix issues as they arise.
Tell us the systems involved and what needs to stay in sync. We'll scope the integration and respond within 24 hours.
