UPTIME & HEALTH MONITORING

Know Your Store Is Down Before
Your Customers Tell You It Is.

Automated 24/7 monitoring of your Shopify store's availability, checkout functionality, API health, and performance - with instant alerts so issues are owned and acted on before revenue is lost.

WHAT'S MONITORED

Every Layer of Your Store's
Health - Tracked Continuously.

Uptime Monitoring

Automated checks every 1 to 5 minutes - if the store returns a non-200 response, an immediate alert is sent. Response time tracked and averaged over time to surface performance degradation before it becomes an outage.

Checkout Flow Monitoring

Synthetic transaction tests run periodically through the checkout - verifying that add-to-cart, checkout initiation, and order completion are functioning, not just that the homepage loads.

API & Integration Health

Critical integrations monitored - fulfillment sync, payment gateway status, Klaviyo event pipeline, and ERP connection - with alerts when error rates exceed defined thresholds.

Core Web Vitals Tracking

LCP, INP, and CLS measured on a schedule across your key page templates - performance regressions flagged when scores drop below your agreed thresholds.

SSL Certificate Monitoring

SSL certificate expiry tracked with advance warning - so your store never goes insecure because a certificate lapsed without anyone noticing.

Monthly Health Reports

Monthly summary of uptime percentage, average response time, alert events, resolution times, and performance trends - giving you a record of your store's health over time.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The Right Fit for This Service.

You've discovered your store was down - or your checkout was broken - because a customer emailed to complain. You've already lost revenue you didn't know you were losing.

Your store processes enough revenue that an hour of downtime has a direct, measurable cost - and you want an automated system that surfaces issues faster than your customers do.

You have integrations - fulfillment, ERP, email - where a silent failure creates operational problems downstream before anyone notices the sync has stopped.

You're on a monthly maintenance retainer and you want proactive monitoring included - so issues are flagged to your support team rather than waiting for a task to be raised.

HOW WE WORK

Set Up. Monitor Continuously.
Alert Fast. Respond Faster.

  1. 01

    Monitoring Configuration

Monitoring tools configured for your specific store - uptime checks, checkout flow tests, integration health checks, and performance thresholds set based on your store's normal operating parameters.

  2. 02

    Alert Routing

Alerts routed to the right people - you, your team, and (if on retainer) our team simultaneously. Alert severity levels set so critical issues escalate faster than informational notices.

  3. 03

    Incident Response

When a critical alert fires, it's treated as an emergency - diagnosed and acted on immediately. For retainer clients, this is included. For non-retainer monitoring clients, alerts are sent to you for action or you can escalate to us as an emergency engagement.

  4. 04

    Monthly Health Reporting

Monthly uptime report delivered - uptime percentage, response time averages, alert events with resolution times, and performance trends. Used to identify recurring patterns before they become incidents.

Uptime & Integration Monitoring - DTC Brand, UK

Brand with a fulfillment integration and a Klaviyo pipeline. Previously had no monitoring - a 3-hour checkout outage and a 6-hour fulfillment sync failure had both gone undetected until customers complained. Monitoring configured across uptime, checkout flow, and integration health.

Three monitoring alerts in the first 6 months - one checkout anomaly (resolved in 18 minutes), one integration timeout (resolved automatically by retry logic), and one SSL certificate expiring in 14 days (renewed before any customer impact). Zero customer-reported incidents in 6 months.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions About Shopify Uptime & Health Monitoring.

1. What exactly does uptime monitoring check on a Shopify store?

At the basic level, uptime monitoring sends an HTTP request to your store URL every 1 to 5 minutes and checks for a 200 OK response. If it gets anything else - 500 error, timeout, redirect loop - it triggers an alert. More comprehensive monitoring adds synthetic checkout flow tests (verifying add-to-cart and checkout initiation actually work), integration health checks (API response codes from connected systems), and performance tracking (response times and Core Web Vitals scores).

2. Isn't Shopify reliable enough that I don't need uptime monitoring?

Shopify's infrastructure is reliable - but outages still happen, and they're not always platform-wide. A theme code error, an app conflict, a broken DNS configuration, or a failed integration can take your store down or break specific functions without any Shopify platform issue. These store-specific failures won't appear on Shopify's status page. Monitoring catches them regardless of cause.

3. What's the difference between monitoring the homepage and monitoring the checkout?

Homepage monitoring confirms the storefront is loading. Checkout monitoring confirms customers can actually purchase. A broken checkout that still serves the homepage normally is not uncommon - and homepage-only monitoring won't catch it. Synthetic checkout tests simulate a real add-to-cart and checkout initiation, verifying the purchase flow is functional, not just that the front page renders.

4. How quickly will I be notified if my store goes down?

With 1-minute check intervals, you'll receive an alert within 1 to 2 minutes of a confirmed outage - most tools require 2 to 3 consecutive failed checks before alerting to prevent false positives from transient network issues. Alerts are sent via Slack, email, or SMS depending on your configuration. For critical issues, we recommend routing alerts to both you and our team simultaneously if you're on a retainer.
